TV has gotten a whole lot more exciting for me since I've discovered AMC's Mad Men. I remember a few years back, I was flipping through channels around 3 o'clock in the morning and stumbled upon this dusty looking, dimly lit show.
At first, I didn't think much of it. But my persistent fascination with the 1960s and my thirst for quality dramatic television got me to taste Mad Men again. I've been addicted with the show since, and I'm now scouring the internet for past episodes.
I watch them alone, because no one I know likes this show. I do wish I could revel in the details of each episode, the intricate symbols placed secretly in each scene, how sexy that asshole account man Pete Campell is, how the Oriental Manhattanite decor of the homes and offices are to die for, but no. No one cares.

Therefore, my relationship with the show and its characters have become personal and oddly deep. And if anyone were to become confusingly and desperately attached to a TV show, Mad Men would be the one, and Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm, would be the man to steal your heart and break it every week.
Hamm's performances are dark, disturbingly aggressive and hypocritical, painfully apathetic in his sexual exploits and numb when with his family.
Below, AMC's promotional trailer for Mad Men makes Draper seem even glossier than he appears from episode to episode. I can guarantee to anyone reading this who does not watch the show that this clip shows just about every single instance of Don Draper smiling EVER for the past three seasons. He is more of a squint and frown kind of guy.
Although the clip does do a great job summarizing the gist of the show. It made me want to slap the show in its face and then make out with it. Is that weird?
What's even weirder? Well, has anyone ever seen Jon Hamm before
MM? I haven't. He's so specifically tied into Don Draper
that seeing him act in other roles is almost unsettling.
But also HILARIOUS.
Like, amazingly, truly hilarious.
Whether he's spoofing Draper:
Or if he's being another character altogether,
like Liz Lemon's boyfriend on 30 Rock:
And then there's this:
So Jon Hamm, whoever you are, you are
something else.
